Performed by an adult cast of 3 to 4. Ideal for secondary school students.
This workshop was devised by Professor Julian Lamb (PhD, Cambridge) from CUHK. It explores the relationship between comedy and tragedy by focusing on a scene from one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Through this scene we teach many things: how to use body and voice to create a character, how to interpret a passage of difficult English, and how to understand a text through performance. This workshop can be offered with Cantonese translation on request. First performed in association with the Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival, our A Midsummer Night’s Dream workshop has been performed to over 900 secondary school and university students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
